Project Overview

A Kolkata-based clothing brand needed a modern e-commerce presence to move beyond Instagram-only sales. We built a full store with Razorpay, inventory management, and a clean admin dashboard.

Client Background

This project was delivered for Ekta Apparels, a Retail & E-Commerce business operating in the Web Development space. The engagement ran for 6 weeks with a team of 2 developers, 1 designer, focused on solving the operational and technical challenges outlined below.

The Challenge

  • Ekta Apparels is a Kolkata-based women's clothing brand with a loyal following built entirely on Instagram and WhatsApp.

  • By the time they approached CCS, they were processing 30–40 orders a week — entirely through DMs, screenshots, and manual UPI bank transfers.

  • Each order required the founders to personally confirm payment, update a shared Google Sheet, and message the customer with tracking details.

  • As order volumes grew ahead of the festive season, the process was breaking down — payments were being missed and orders were getting confused.

  • The founders were spending 3–4 hours every day on manual logistics that software should handle.

  • They had a hard Durga Puja launch deadline and a strict startup budget.

Our Solution

1

We began with a 3-day discovery sprint to understand the brand identity, product range, and the founders' day-to-day workflow before writing any code.

2

The storefront was built on Next.js — server-side rendered for fast load times and SEO-friendly product pages that Google can index.

3

The product catalogue design is clean, editorial, and fully mobile-first, matching the Ekta Apparels brand aesthetic.

4

Checkout flow was kept deliberately frictionless: browse → cart → address → pay, with Razorpay handling UPI, cards, and net banking.

5

Automatic payment confirmation on the backend creates the order record and sends a confirmation email to the customer — no manual verification needed.

6

A lightweight admin panel lets the founders manage products, update stock, view orders, and mark shipments — without touching any code.

7

The backend runs on Node.js and PostgreSQL on a managed cloud instance with automatic daily backups.

Key Features Built

Mobile-first product catalogue

Designed for the 90%+ of customers browsing on mobile. Fast image loading, swipe-friendly gallery, and size guide per product.

Razorpay checkout integration

Supports UPI, debit/credit cards, and net banking. Automatic payment verification triggers order confirmation email to the customer instantly.

Inventory management

Stock levels update automatically when an order is placed. Low-stock alerts notify the founders when a product is running out.

Order management dashboard

All orders in one place — with status tracking (pending, packed, shipped, delivered), customer details, and one-click status updates.

SEO-optimised product pages

Each product has a unique URL, meta title, and description. Server-side rendering ensures Google can crawl and index the catalogue.

Discount & coupon system

Founders can create and manage discount codes for promotions, with optional expiry dates and usage limits.

Results & Outcomes

  • Launched in 6 weeks — 2 weeks ahead of the Durga Puja shopping season

  • 120+ orders processed through the store in the first 30 days post-launch

  • Payment reconciliation errors dropped to zero — every order is auto-confirmed

  • Admin panel fully adopted by both non-technical founders within one day of handover

  • Store load time on mobile: under 2 seconds on a standard 4G connection
